PINEAPPLE: Whole pineapples can just

go in as they are in the general refrigerator
area.
   Pieces should first be wrapped in plastic
wrap, to prevent drying out. Pieces should
stay fresh for one week. Whole pieces one
week to 10 days. Watch for tissue collapse
and rotting.

PLUMS: Will not ripen fully if
refrigerated too early. Store as they are in.

   Should keep fresh one week. Prone to
rotting.

ROCK MELON: Store in general ref-
refrigerator area or crisper. Cut sections
should be wrapped in plastic wrap.
   Watch for tissue collapse and rotting.

STRAWBERRIES
: Will hold for a few
days in bag, plastic wrap or crisper.
   Check often for sign of breakdown or
rotting, and remove affected fruit
immediately. Eat soon.

WATERMELON: Store in general refrigerator 
area. Cut sections should be wrapped in 
plastic wrap to prevent drying.
   Watch for tissue collapse and rotting.

Vegetables

 

RHUBARB: Seal in plastic bag. Store
in general refrigerator area.

SILVER BEET (SPINACH): Seal in plastic bag. 
   Store in general refrigerator. They should 
be kept in a well ventilated area away from 
sunlight.
   Will usually keep longer than you're
likely to leave them.

TOMATOES: Green tomatoes will not-
ripen if refrigerated too early. Colored
tomatoes should be put in ventilated
plastic bags, in general refrigerator area.
   Should keep fresh 4 to 7 days.

ONIONS: Onions cannot be kept in
refrigerator. They should be held in a well
ventilated area away from sunlight, and
kept as dry as possible. Will generally last
longer than you're likely to leave them.

ZUCCHINIS: Put in ventilated plastic
bag or plastic wrap in general refrigerator
area. Watch for water-soaked spots. Skin
pitting and tissue collapse. Remove at first
sign as subsequent decay can be rapid.
