Berry Banana Smoothie
Quick, colorful and delicious, this three-ingredient fruit smoothie tastes as good as it is for you. Smoothies are a quick and interesting way to enjoy fresh fruit. They offer you a chance to enjoy a variety of different fruits in endless combinations. AICR recommends you include fruits of every color in your diet to avoid disease and help manage your weight. Packed with fiber, this lightning-fast smoothie makes a great breakfast or mid-afternoon snack and contains more than two servings of fruit per cup. 1 cup frozen mixed berries (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries)
1 banana (medium)
2/3 cup unsweetened apple juice
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender. Purée until smooth. You can increase the berries to 1 1/2 cups and use just half a banana for more berry flavor, if desired. When using frozen berries no ice cubes are needed. If you want to use fresh fruit be sure to add two ice cubes to the blender for a thicker consistency. Makes 2 servings. One cup per serving.
