The Rosedale Diet
Ron Rosedale, M.D., and Carol Colman

We have been testing and trying the recipes from the Rosedale Diet for the past few days and are printing some of the recipes we tried. Before we tried the recipes, we read and studied the Rosedale Diet quite thoroughly. We decided that the diet makes sense, has a good program and the food is tasty, healthy and good. Basically, the Rosedale Diet is divided into three sections.

Part One: This part of the book outlines the principles and logic to a healthy life. The concept of leptins is introduced. The author states that most people’s leptin levels are out of control, causing them to overeat and to store fat rather than burn it. The book includes a quiz to determine if there are any telltale signs of leptin resistance.

Part Two: In this section the doctor discusses the different types of fat and which fats are beneficial and which are harmful and introduces you to the principles of a healthy diet. The author suggests that you begin the diet and continue it for three weeks by following his prescribed menu for 21 days. You also find three lists: The “A” List is designed for the healthiest meals and snacks. The “B” List is a suggestion of foods to be eaten in limited quantities after the initial 21-day diet. The “C” List are foods to be avoided altogether. The 21-day diet outlines a daily food plan starting with breakfast, to snack, lunch, snack and ending with dinner. The recipes follow the 21-day diet plan. You can plan your menus and shopping list from these menus. It is extremely easy to follow this plan. True to his word, Dr. Rosedale promises that you will not leave the table hungry. Dr. Rosedale also includes a

supplement plan and the supplement plan plus for your guidance.

Part Three: This section consists of the Rosedale resources which discusses such issues as how much protein you should eat every day. Protein requirements for men and women and more diet recipes - apart from the recipes for the initial 21-day diet. There is also a section here for product information, as the diet plan includes products such as “Manna from Heaven”, tortillas and a website. It also lists laboratories which can test leptin levels and perform the medical tests mentioned in the book.

We highly recommend that you read the book and study it quite thoroughly before you begin your diet. We also suggest that you abide by Dr. Rosedale’s suggestion to follow the diet for 21 days before you take the initiative and develop your own plan. Turn off your hunger switch, live longer, lose weight fast and keep it off. We hope you will try some of the recipes included in this week’s newsletter, and even if you do not follow the diet plan, we certainly can recommend the recipes.

As one veteran of the diet plan stated, “I don’t need to eat food for comfort anymore, I take comfort in how I look and how I feel.”
